St. Agnes

Thank you

Great News!! Thank you to our many supporters!!!

Saint Agnes Medical Center received notification from the NLRB that the California Nurses Association withdrew their petition for election!!!
We said “CNA go away”….and they walked away!!

The last few days we really stepped up our grassroots effort. The final straw was when the CNA came to Saint Agnes on Wednesday 3/4/09 and set up a press conference. They were hoping for a big media stunt…and it was a flop! Only 4 or 5 Saint Agnes nurses showed up…even though the article in the Fresno Bee claimed, “about two dozen registered nurses at Saint Agnes Medical Center protested…” A complete lie! We were there, and saw it all first hand! I am so glad we witnessed this so they could not pull the wool over our eyes!

We kept on fighting the good fight, talking to nurses, making our new flyers and really feeling more and more support from the staff. It was a great feeling to see that our efforts made a difference!

We know, that this is not the end of the California Nurses Associations vicious campaign to get into nurses wallets, and we also know that we will never give up! We will stand up for our rights and our voice!

To other nurses out there going up against such a “powerful” union, don’t give up! Don’t let them intimidate you! Stay vigilant and keep fighting the good fight for union free hospitals! Educate yourselves and your co-workers!

We are all so grateful for each other, for our supporters and the teamwork we were able to put forth!

With Gratitude,
The “Grassroots” nurses at Saint Agnes!

“OUR VOICE–OUR CHOICE!!”

Mission Statement

We are an independent grassroots organization, not part of the administration of Saint Agnes Medical Center of Fresno, California. We focus on professionalism and integrity. We believe it is in our best interest to develop a collaborative relationship with our hospital with no outside interference.
We create our own work and stand by our previous efforts to remain union free. We have not changed. Since 1997, the nurses of Saint Agnes have maintained the belief that it is our right to choose not to join a union. We encourage all nurses to act professionally and respect each other as colleagues.

A St Agnes Nurse in a letter to the Editor of the Fresno Bee;

“Total lack of respect”

The California Nurses Association (C.N.A.) is back trying to “infect” the nurses.
Last May, the nurses at Saint Agnes Medical Center spoke and gave the C.N.A. its biggest defeat ever – 94% of the nurses went to the polls, the results were 452 NO, 327 Yes.

Since May, the C.N.A. has dragged this decision through the courts, and finally, because of a technicality a judge overturned the vote. Now we are getting ready for another election March 11 and 12.

The C.N.A. prides itself on being a “nurse advocate”! So why did they not listen to us? This shows a total lack of respect for the nurses’ voice! I can’t even imagine having to deal with them on a daily basis. I keep thinking that maybe it is not our best interest, but our money that they are after (a full time nurse would pay almost $100 a month in dues!)

Let’s give them another dose of “no” medicine, so they will finally stay away!

The California Nurses Association strikes again!

St Agnes Medical Center
Fresno California

Then: May 21, 22 , 2008 94% voter turnout with NO: 452 and Yes: 327
Now: NLRB overturned vote and is asking for new election March 11, 12 2009.
Why?: The CNA convinced the NLRB that St Agnes management posted the “Notice of Election”
Six Hours Late. Because of this, the CNA claims that not everyone was properly informed of the election. Even with a whopping 94% turnout.

Third times a charm! Maybe the CNA will get it this time. Saint Agnes Medical Center is no place for them. Let’s show them once and for all that we do NOT want them, that we don’t want intruders in our home.

FYI: State prison employees just lost 10% of their wages, despite union. Other state employees are paying the dues despite of the fact that union is negotiating thier contracts. Who hurts? The employees!
In this economy, there is no place for union dues.
Let’s vote NO
We have a voice and our choice is union free!

Thank you
