Affinity Medical Center Nurses File Federal Charges Against NNOC

May 13 2013 UPDATE:  Affinity Nurses file federal lawsuit accusing National Nurses Organizing Committee labor union (NNOC) of violating its duty of fair representation.

Four Affinity nurses file federal lawsuit – Canton, OH – CantonRep.com

 Copy of Complaint Filed

The professional nurses of Affinity Medical Center in Massillon Ohio have been blindsided by a neutrality agreement between the hospital and the National Nurses Organizing Committee (better known as the California Nurses Association). Under this “agreement” the hospital has allowed the union a rushed election date that does not allow these nurses to educate themselves on the consequences of unionizing.

Whats the rush?

Angry at corporate? Why align yourself with a union that has aligned themselves with corporate? Vote NO!

Voting them out was only HALF way to actually getting rid of them!

They waited until the last five minutes of the last day they could file ‘objections’ to the election results, and kept asking for postponements of our NLRB hearing to do their own “arbitration” in front of their “arbitrator”. Employee participation is supposed to be “voluntary” to this, since it is NOT PART OF the official and legitimate process. Since I declined the invitation of my hospital to be a witness for them, the union was denied their shot at me in cross examination. They tried to SUBPOENA me and demand that I furnish them with “any and all” documentation I had on virtually every element of my campaign against them. I had to file unfair labor practice against both the union and my hospital to combat this. OH! And how’s this for adding insult to injury? They attached a ten dollar check to it as some sort of “witness fee”. As if!

When it was all said and done, it was dragged out two full months almost to the day from the date of the election. THEIR OWN ARBITRATOR said they didn’t have enough valid objections to derail our election, so they (finally!) withdrew their objections and conceded their loss.

The vote at Affinity has NOT been certified. The union isn’t in yet. We have filed a motion with the help of the National Right to Work Foundation to stop this sham of an election. We will continue to expose these people for what they are, a political machine from CA who only cares about taking our money! They are already backpeddling from the promises they made!

Victoria Lynn from Texas made a terrific video discussing her turmoil with the NNOC and placed it on our facebook link “Informed RNs of Affinity.”

Still sitting on the fence on how to vote. Call and talk to a nurse at Barstow Community Hospital in CA or Rio Grande Regional Hospital in TX. The NNOC was voted in at Rio Grande and a year later they decertified them. Why? The union did not follow through with their empty promises. Certain issues have already been negotiated between Affinity (CHS) and the NNOC. For example, there will be no negotiating a pension or our current 401K benefits. In addition, we stand to lose our insurance through The Ohio Health Plan and be forced to use CHS’s insurance which is more expensive. Do some digging. Call various hospitals and ask questions. You will be surprised at what people tell you.

The NNOC hasn’t even won the election and already they are dictating what management can do. The employees were going to be given one hour of pay to come in and vote, however the union refused to allow it. Way to care about the employees NNOC.
